Kimmie & Dutchy’s 2016 Big A$$ Road Trip

Well, it’s no secret that I love to ramble around this world we live in so it should come as no surprise that a few years ago I landed myself a guy that also has a lust for wandering. But to be honest, until I met Erik, I had completely forgotten how fun a road trip could be. Most of the traveling I had done in my adult life involved booking a ticket, going through numerous security checks, and spending countless hours sitting in an airport or on an airplane trying to get where I was going. A few years ago, we decided to take a first big road trip together, 10 days, out to the Outer Banks and it was awesome! I saw so much of my country that I’d never seen before! No schedule, no itineraries, as many coffee stops as we wanted……..(cue the song “Born to be Wild” here) I mean, we had a loose plan for the places we wanted to see along the way but it was exactly that…….loose! We got home from that trip and almost immediately started thinking about the next one which ended up being our 2015 Big a$$ road trip out west to Yellowstone National Park and lots of incredible places in between. The images from our 2015 trip are still sitting in a folder on my desktop waiting to be edited. (Yep, shameful I know!)

So, this year I made a promise to myself and to my hubby that I would not let the photos that I took on our 2016 road trip sit in a folder on my desktop collecting dust. And as I was editing them I thought “Hey, it might be cool to do a blog post that is kind of like a photo journal of the trip.” And so I put this together to share a really cool experience with you and to also get your wheels turning.

Seriously, we live in one of THE most beautiful countries on the planet so let’s all hit the road and see it ALL!!! Oh, and turns out, I actually love to camp. Who knew! lol
