To say these two are adorable together is such an understatement. You can tell just by their photos that they truly enjoy each other’s company and have so much fun together! We wish them the best of luck in the next chapter of their lives in Knoxville!!

Hmm…we began wondering, “Man, Caden…can’t you show a little more personality or something?!”

And, “Oh, Caden….can’t you be a little more adorable for these photos?”

And if only we had been lucky enough to have some decent weather and pretty scenery.

Finally fed up, we wanted to yell, “C’mon, Caden! Can’t you just give us SOMETHING to work with?!” ;)

Oh well. Hopefully we’ll have better luck next time.

Despite bad weather the day before and a brief threat of more rain, we lucked out with a beautiful day, and Liza’s family’s property was the perfect back drop for her photos. Battling chilliness and a little mud, Liza was up for anything and looked breathtaking in every shot! Even when her dad suggested a couple shots down by their lake (involving a trek through lots of mud in a silk organza wedding dress!) Liza happily donned her Crocs and headed down to the dock, resulting in what turned out to be her favorite photos from the session!

Though I’m sure looking over these photos from her bridal session may leave you anxious to see the actual wedding photos, these will just have to do for now!

The initial vision for our wedding came from several places.  An “inspiration” pillow that I found at Pier 1, our amazing save the dates designed by Lesley Gilmer, numerous photos on Pinterest, and  Angela Dacus & Shawn Sandy who helped us pull it all together.  I knew I wanted teal blue, mustard yellow, and coral to be the primary colors in the wedding and that I wanted the majority of the flowers and other decor to be made of paper. When Lesley designed our Save the Dates, she included these little vintage rosettes in the design. When I first saw them, I was like  ”Ummmm, I don’t know about those.” Why did I have a second thought about them? I honestly have no idea because I ended up falling in love with them and after that,  the paper rosette became the “mascot” of our wedding! We used them on our magazine wreaths, on the branches that were included in the table centerpieces, and larger ones in the ceremony arch.

Erik & I both love things that are old & rustic or that look old & rustic so we incorporated lots of old doors, chairs, etc. into the decor. Erik is Dutch so we also wanted to bring some of his culture into the wedding by including lots of tulips and the wooden shoes into our centerpieces. I hosted several craft nights at my studio where my friends came together to help create a lot of the DIY elements; magazine wreaths, paper rosettes, a fabric strip wall, etc. were made with TLC by some pretty amazing people. Honestly, if it wasn’t for them, Erik and I might have been tempted to have just gone down to the Justice of the Peace!  But by the end, even Erik was getting in on the DIY fun by creating the mason jar chandelier that hung above the cake table.

The ceremony was so sweet & intimate! Erik & I stood under an arch made out of paper pinwheels & rosettes that was so beautiful! We wrote our own vows and while I cried tears of joy all the way through mine I was eventually able to get them out. Even though we opted not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen in the wedding, I wanted to do something special for my close girlfriends so I came up with the idea to do coffee cup bouquets for them. I purchased the cutest monogrammed cups from Anthropologie and Angela put together the cutest bouquets for them to take home and even more importantly, use in a few group photos of course!

After the ceremony, it was time to eat! Erik & I wanted the food at the wedding to reflect our favorites so CFY Catering put together an awesome grilled cheese and soup station for our guests. We had three types of soups and 3 different grilled cheese sandwiches. The “Zinger” grilled cheese which included cream cheese, cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon & roasted jalapeno, was my favorite! YUMMY!!!!

As we both share a mutual love for music, we knew the music at our ceremony & reception had to be awesome and since I do so many weddings, I have seen it all! Choosing the band for the reception was easy……Almost Famous had to be there! I had a tougher time choosing someone for the ceremony because we wanted someone to sing and play acoustic guitar. Then, one night I was photographing Jenny & Matt Savage’s rehearsal dinner and I came across Charvey McLemore. I instantly said, “That’s the guy!”

While we absolutely loved everything about our wedding day, one of our favorite things was definitely the star gazing area set up in a little field outside the pavillion. It put a smile on our faces to see our guests camped out on all the blankets while they ate and talked.

A few days ago, Erik looked at me and said, “If someone told me I had to choose one day out of my life and live in it forever, I would choose our wedding day!” My eyes filled up with tears, BIG shocker, because I feel the exact same way! It truly was magical and we were surrounded by all the people in our lives that we love so very much. It is and always will be all about the LOVE!!! We met with the McCrary family at our Memphis, TN studio where we photographed the adorable Bates for the first time. As handsome as he is, it was hard not to fall in love with this little one, and as you can see from the photos of Bates with his parents, we are not the only ones under his spell!! You may think you’re strong enough to resist, but just wait until you see those big, sweet eyes! Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

We were lucky enough to shoot Adelyn’s parent’s wedding years ago, and after seeing Adelyn regularly for photo shoots over the years, she came to yet another session bringing her “A-game”! She posed for shot after shot, but was determined to have some fun at the same time. We loved photographing Adelyn showing both her sweet AND silly side, and are so glad we were able to capture her personality!

If these photos don’t make you smile…and then crack up, we don’t know what will!

We love that Matthew’s son jumped in on the fun for a few shots, and that the love between Matthew and Kendra was so apparent with every look they exchanged. We can’t wait to shoot this couple’s wedding in the fall!
